She has been teaching music for 24 years and holds degrees from Illinois State University and Louisiana State University.
She has three very active kids and is married to a high school math teacher. Besides making music, she loves making hats and scarves, and she loves arts and crafts. Known as an instant local, she finds much to love about her life among the deserts and farm land of the Imperial Valley. She loves the mountains, also, and grew up in Illinois a few hours southwest of Chicago. She has maintained most of her midwest characteristics and makes a mean jello salad.

Lupe Meier (Miss Amy's assistant) has 28 years of pre-K and elementary education experience including having run her own pre-school. She works for the Brawley Elementary School District in Brawley, California as a para-educator and assists with trans-kinder and special needs students. She is vibrant, energetic, and addicted to sweet tea. She still has one child in high school, so she won’t be retiring anytime soon!
